Caregiver Education

There are only four kinds of people in the world: Those who have been caregivers. Those who currently are caregivers. Those who will be caregivers. Those who will need caregivers.

Caregiver education
Family members and other caregivers can be critical to ensuring the quality of the patient’s care and patient adherence with the drug treatment. With the rapid aging of our society, the number of people assuming the caregiver role is rapidly increasing.

Caregivers need written reinforcement of the verbal instructions given to them by the doctor, nurse or pharmacist. These instructions should be written and designed according to patient education principles and must contain practical information.

Caregivers also need instructions on how to monitor the patient’s progress at home and how to help manage side effects. The caregiver often decides whether or not to continue the therapy and whether to get refills. Our patient information will help motivate caregivers to keep the patient on therapy and increase patient adherence.

Consumer Health Information Corporation has unique expertise to develop patient information and patient education programs and materials that help:

  • educate caregivers on how to manage prescribed therapies
  • teach caregivers how to integrate medication instructions with prescribed changes in diet, exercise and lifestyle
  • teach caregivers how to collect and communicate pertinent information about the patient to the health care provider
